The Home Minsitry has directed the to prepare a directory of all rape convicts and upload their photographs, names and addresses on its website. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Minister of State for Home, Mr R P N Singh said that the government is planning to start it in Delhi and photographs and other informations of the rape convicts will also be uploaded on Delhi Police website.

Mr Singh said that subsequently the plan will cover all states and Union Territories and websites of state police forces also. The action comes as part of the host of measures taken by the government aimed at preventing crime against women in the wake of surge of protests following recent gang-rape of a 23-year-old girl in Delhi .
