NALCO plans to enter into energy sector

The National Aluminium Company (NALCO) plans to enter into energy sector by setting up a nuclear plant with the help of Nuclear Power Corporation of India. The Navratna Company will invest 1700 crore rupees for this plant. Informing this Nalco chairman-cum-managing director A.K. Srivastav told media persons at Bhubaneswar last night that the company also intends to involve in at least two ultra Mega Power Plants being set up by the Central Government. He also said NALCO will set up a 14 lakh tonne alumina refinery in Andhra Pradesh, a 5 lakh tonne smelter plant and 1250 MW power plant in any parts of the country. It also plans to establish aluminium smelter in Indonesia. NALCO's sales turn over during last fiscal is 5310.47 crore rupees with net profit of 814.22 crore rupees.
