Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla has expressed concern over indifferent attitude of some of the State Waqf Boards. Inaugurating a national conference of Chairpersons and Chief Executive Officers of State Waqf Boards in New Delhi today, Ms Heptulla said, most of the states have not established the three-member Waqf Tribunals as provided for in the Act. The Minister said, Supreme Court has also taken serious exception to the issue and directed the State Governments to constitute tribunals within four months from the date of judgment of 15th of December last year. MS Heptulla said, substantial loan outstanding due to Central Waqf Council, CWC, also has not been remitted by the loanee Waqf and appealed to State Boards to fulfil their obligations under the Act more seriously and promptly.<br/>The main objective of the Central Waqf Council is to safeguard the interest of the Waqf and to bring transparency in the affairs of the Auqaf.
