Naidu’s hunger strike entered eight day

In Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party President Chandrababu Naidu has been continuing his indefinite hunger strike on the eight day today even after he has been forcibly given intravenous fluids last evening. Following deterioration in his health condition, a medical team at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences has forcibly shifted him to Intensive Care Unit and administered intravenous fluids. However, unrelenting on his demand to provide better relief for farmers, Mr Naidu has been continuing his fast. NIMS Director P V Ramesh told reporters that administering fluids was purely a medical decision based on the advice of a team of doctors including eminent cardiologist B SomaRaju and gastroenterologist D Nageswara Reddy. Meanwhile, alleging that the Government has failed in responding to the farmers problems, the TDP cadres are holding protest demonstrations in the state. They have taken out a rally from the Assembly to the state Secretariat as a mark of protest. Earlier, the state Government had assured the all party meeting that it would make efforts to get central assistance to enhance input subsidy for rain-hit farmers.
