In Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Desam Party President Chandrababu Naidu’s hunger strike entered eight day on Friday even after he has been forcibly given intravenous fluids last evening. Following deterioration in his health condition, a medical team at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences has forcibly shifted his to Intensive Care Unit and administered intravenous fluids. However, unrelenting on his demand for better relief for farmers, Mr. Naidu has been continuing his fast. Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences Director P.V. Ramesh told reporters that administering fluids was purely a medical decision based on the advice of a team of doctors including eminent cardiologist B. Soma Raju and gastroenterologist D. Nageswara Reddy. Earlier, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy said at an all party meeting on Thursday that the state government would make efforts to get central assistance to enhance input subsidy for rain hit farmers. After TDP and Left parties walked out from the meeting, the all party has passed separate resolutions seeking Mr naidu to call off his fast and appealing farmers nor to indulge in suicides. Meanwhile, alleging the Government’s failure to thrash out an amicable solution, the TDP cadres are holding protest demonstrations.
