Naidu,Kejriwal to flag off Heritage Line of Delhi metro today

Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal flagged off the much-awaited Heritage Line of Delhi Metro today. It has four stations : Kashmere Gate, Dilli Gate, Jama Masjid and Lal Quila. The new line is expected to take considerable load off Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazar stations of Yellow Line. It is essentially an extension of Violet Line that runs between Faridabad and ITO presently.<br/> <br/>Speaking on the occasion, Venkaiah Naidu said the new metro heritage corridor from ITO to Kashmere Gate will connect many monuments. He said work on over 518 kilometres metro line is in progress throughout the country. Mr Naidu said metro is in huge demand as it provides better mobility to people.<br/><br/>Arvind Kejriwal said Delhi Metro today is the pride of not only Delhi but entire India. He said there are many countries now which are looking up to Delhi Metro and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is providing consultancy to many towns and cities. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports trains on the Heritage Line will be available at a frequency of three minutes and 20 seconds during peak hours. This section will ease commuting from areas along Delhi Metro's Red Line (Rithala-Dilshad Garden) to south Delhi and Faridabad. Delhi Metro's total network length has now increased to 218 kilometres with 164 stations.
