Naidu inaugurates multimedia exhibition on theme of 'Aazadi 70 Saal, Yaad Karo Kurbani'

Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu has inaugurated a multimedia exhibition on the theme of 'Aazadi 70 Saal, Yaad Karo Kurbani' to commemorate 70 years of India's Independence and its depiction through films. The multimedia exhibition has been organised by National Film Archives of India, NFAI at the International Film Festival of India, IFFI in Goa. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion in Panaji last evening, Mr Naidu said, Indian film industry being one of the most diverse has immensely contributed towards patriotism, which is very well displayed at the exhibition. <br/><br/>The exhibition covers films, highlighting the contributions of Indian soldiers, peoples and freedom fighters, towards independence and various wars thereafter. The exhibition covers the films, from silent era till date. <br/><br/>The fight against social evils such as un-touchability and caste system and issues pertaining to women empowerment has also been covered through various films. Indian film industry, being one of the most diverse, has also been displayed at the exhibition. Mr Naidu also inaugurated the revamped website of National Film Archives and its new year calendar with a theme of dance in Indian cinema.

He said, India and its independence struggle have a great past which has been showcased in its cinema and it is our responsibility to pass on this heritage to the future generation. The minister said, this exhibition can be a centre of inspiration for the coming generation. Mr Naidu said, unity in diversity is a special trait of our country and films have a big role in ensuring this.<br/><br/>The Minister also inaugurated the revamped NFAI website, NFAI New Year calendar with a theme of dance in Indian cinema and exhibition on virtual reality. It is one of its own kind technological innovations of virtual reality wherein people can visit NFAI premises and the exhibition through a virtual reality gear.
