Nagar Kirtan in Amritsar on 344th Birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh

To mark the 344th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth guru of the Sikhs, an impressive ‘Nagar Kirtan’, (religious procession) was taken in the holy city of Amritsar. <br/><br/>The Nagar Kirtan which was led by ‘Panj Piaras’ ( the Five Sikh beloved) carrying the Guru Granth Sahib ( the holy scripture of the Sikhs) in a golden Palanquin passed through the various bazaars of the Amritsar before concluding at Akal Takht. <br/><br/>Religious societies, jathas, associations and children sang ‘shabads’, schools and society bands, besides senior members of the SGPC participated. Stalls of tea, cold drinks, fruits and sweets and water free of cost were put up by the ‘sangat’ on the occasion, all Gurdwaras were lighted on Monday night.
