Nagaland's Hornbill Festival begins

In Nagaland, Hornbill festival began at the picturesque Naga Heritage Village, Kisama this morning. The seven-day festival was declared open by Governor of Nagaland Nikhil Kumar. Inaugurating the event, Mr Kumar said the State is a treasure trove of culture and Hornbill festival is a commendable attempt to capture the cultural vibrancy and diversity and to showcase to the country. He said the Hornbill Festival, which coincides with the 47th Statehood Day, has been breaking new ground and growing in stature and fame with each passing year because of the enthusiastic participation of the people. While appreciating the efforts of creating awareness of the people through successive Hornbill festivals, the Governor wished that more initiatives should be taken for making Nagaland as one of the important tourists’ destinations of the country.
