Nagaland to resume Petroleum exploration

Nagaland Government has decided to resume Petroleum exploration and development of Oil and natural Gas in Changpang Oil field and all other oil bearing areas in the state. Informing this at the 30th State Geological programming board meeting in Dimapur today, Parliamentary Secretary for Geology and Mining, Y. Patton said, the resolution was adopted during the recently concluded State Assembly session for which fresh modalities beneficial to both state government and land owners will be worked out shortly. Mr. Patton said under the coal policy, the department has set up mineral check gates at strategic locations in various districts of the State to monitor the coal mining activities. He said the department has formulated long term strategic plan for scientific development and management of ground water resources in the state through collection of ground water level data from National Hydro graphic Network stations and preparation of geo-hydro logical map of the state.
