Nagaland is set to conduct a state-wide Mega Mock Exercise on Earthquake disaster on November 2. An earthquake of magnitude 8.7 Richter scale will be stimulated during the mock exercise.<br />''   <br />''As a preparatory to the state-wide Mega Mock Exercise, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) organized a Capacity Development Program on Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise at Adminstrative Training Institute, Kohima. HoDs of various lines departments such as NDRF, Fire department, Police and Armed forces participated in the program. <br />'' <br />''Speaking at the programme, Nagaland Chief Secretary, J Alam, emphasized on the need to have good documentation and role clarity of each stakeholder and authority for better preparedness for any disaster.<br />'' <br />''Apart from undertaking such preparedness with utmost seriousness, he felt the need to keep documenting it properly so that it creates guidance for the employees to follow.<br />'' <br />''Alam further suggested setting up a field hospital capacity within the NSDMA in order to provide for any emergencies in remote areas. <br />'' <br />''Senior Consultant of the National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Home Affairs, Maj. Gen. Sudhir Bahl (Retd), said, fighting a disaster is not only the job of the government, but it is also equally the responsibility of citizens. Bahl also stressed the importance of investing in technology and technology-assisted decision-making for disaster management.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Earlier, the state Chief Secretary released the first report of the Nagaland Disaster Statistics 2023, published by the Department of Economics & Statistics.</span><br />
