<span style="color: #222222;">In Nagaland, the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) today carried out a State-wide Mega Earthquake Mock Exercise across the districts of the State. The exercise was conducted so as to strengthen the organisational structures and review the overall preparedness of the State in meeting any disaster, more effectively at the time of occurrence. The exercise was conducted at different locations of the districts with a siren alarm simulating an Earthquake occurrence of high magnitude.</span><br />''Rescue personnel, Volunteers Home Guards, Fire and Emergency Service Team, SDRF, Medical Team, PWD (R&amp;B), personnel from the Police department including Traffic and Wireless, and others took part in the exercise. &nbsp;<br />''&nbsp;<br />''Debriefing media persons at the State Capital Kohima on the State-wide mega mock drill, Home Commissioner and CEO of NSDMA, Mr Abhijit Sinha said the overall exercise has improved and corrected areas where it needed improvement. He noted that communication is one key aspect that needs upgradation and skilling of the stakeholders. Sinha said the exercise is a learning experience for effective disaster management.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Senior Consultant (ME &amp; IRS) of the National Disaster Management Authority, Major General Sudhir Bahl (Retd) has emphasized the need for Nagaland state to ensure full-proof communications facilities and get all stakeholders on board including the central agencies like the Armed Forces, and the Central Armed Police Forces for effective response to any disaster. He observed that there is a need to incorporate state of art decision support system and improved geo-satellite communication, which would allow the decision-makers to know real-time ground situations and act upon them.&nbsp; Mr Bhal called for having more pragmatic Hospital disaster management plans in the State.&nbsp;</span><br />
