Nagaland Legislative Assembly Monsoon Session commenced without participation of Naga People's Front

The one day-Monsoon Session of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly was adjourned Sine Die by Speaker Sharingain Longkumer on Thursday afternoon. The session was held in order to fulfill the constitutional requirement of holding the session within a six months period.<br />'' <br />''The House commenced without the participation of the Opposition Bench Naga People's Front. The Opposition bench had boycotted the session alleging that the session has been convened for mere fulfillment of constitutional obligation.<br />'' <br />''Despite the absence of the Opposition members, the replies to 12 starred queries put up by them were tabled in the House by the Ministers in-charge.<br />'' <br />''The House passed the Nagaland Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill 2020, by voice vote which was moved by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. He also tabled the State Disaster Management Plan, Incident Response System, State Disaster Management Rules and Minimum Standards of Relief. Annual administrative report of the state government departments 2019-2020 were also laid by the Ministers and other Audit Reports of state departments.<br />''<br />''The House also mourned the deaths of four former legislators of the Assembly by observing a two minute silence as homage to them. Earlier, before the commencement of the session, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio launched the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Bi-Annual Journal titled The Naga Assembly Chronicles.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The session was held while observing social distancing. As per the precautionary directive of the Speaker, all legislators, Administrative Heads of Department and their supporting staff, officials and staff of the State Assembly and media personnel underwent COVID-19 test for the Assembly Session.</span><br />
