Nagaland DGP T J Longkumer tenders his resignation, formalities of his resignation to take place on 7th January

<span style="color: #222222;">Director General of Police (DGP) Nagaland T J Longkumer has tendered his resignation.<br />''<br />''Minister for Planning & Cooperation, Parliamentary Affairs and Land Revenue, Neiba Kronu today informed media persons, that Longkumer tendered his resignation on the 2nd of January and the State Government has decided to accept his resignation. He said, formalities of his resignation will take place on the 7th of January.<br />''<br />''Mr. Kronu said, the senior most officer will be inducted as the DGP of the State. DG Prisons, Home Guards, Civil Defence & SDRF,  Rupin Sharma, a 1992 Batch Nagaland Cadre IPS is expected to replace Longkumer as the next DGP.<br />''<br />''Sources said, Sunil Acharya, 1991 batch IPS officer who is the senior most police officer in the State and on deputation, however, has refused the offer of DGP.<br />''<br />''It may be mentioned that Longkumer, a 1991 Chhattisgarh cadre IPS officer resignation came following row over the six months' extension of his service for the second time, after the expiry of his first service extension on the 31st of August 2022.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, the Supreme Court had also directed the Nagaland government, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the UPSC to finalise the process of appointment of the State Director General of Police (DGP) on or before the 19th of December, 2022.   </span><br />
