Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio stakes claim to form new govt

Nagaland Chief Minister and Leader of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN), Neiphiu Rio met the State Governor Nikhil Kumar at Raj Bhavan in Kohima on Saturday to stake claim to form the next government in the State. Rio also submitted his resignation and his Council of Ministers from the 11th Nagaland Assembly.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio who steered the NPF and its alliance to retain power in Nagaland, met Governor Nikhil Kumar to formally stake claim to form the government. With the unanimous re-election of the NPF Legislators’ Party leader, Rio will take over as the 19th Chief Minister of Nagaland for the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly to lead the DAN Government for the third term.

In a letter, Mr Rio requested the State Governor to invite him to form the DAN-III Government once the constitutional formalities are completed.
