Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang today met Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi and discussed implementation of various projects. An official release said Mr Zeliang stressed on the need for infrastructure development in Nagaland given its potential as the Gateway to East Asian countries. He informed Mr Naidu that Nagaland government would soon submit the Smart City Plan for Kohima to the Ministry of Urban Development for evaluation in the Fast Track Competition in which 23 cities are participating. The Chief Minister said that best possible efforts have been made to improve the Kohima proposal to address the deficiencies pointed out in the first round of competition in which 20 cities have been selected.
