Nagaland CM announces to create corpus fund of Rs one crore for Disability community of state

<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Saturday (2<sup>nd</sup> December 2023) announced that a corpus fund of one crore rupees would be created for the Disability community of Nagaland. He said, the amount will be sanctioned in next budget, to be utilized as capital, while earnings can be used for activities of the disability communities.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"> </p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">The Chief Minister said this while addressing the Disability Pride Fair 2023 being held at the ongoing Hornbill Festival in Kisama, to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) which falls on December 3.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"> </p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Mr Rio added that a state level committee headed by the Chief Secretary to look into the welfare of the communities and help them contribute to the society will be set up.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"> </p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Admitting that there is still a need to do more for PWDs on the part of the Government, the Department and the abled people, Mr Rio said, the day is a wakeup call for all to remember the less privileged people, empower them and ensure equal participation in all activities.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"> </p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Commending the rehabilitation centre at Dimapur for aiding persons with disabilities, the Chief Minister said, two more such centres are coming up in Mon and Tuensang.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"> </p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">The Disability Pride fair includes exhibition and sale of products made by persons with disabilities, besides fun and games for children with and without disabilities, live performances by disabled artistes, disability information booths and many more.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"> </p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #222222;">This year's edition also integrates on-site registration for UDID, Aadhar cards and CM Health Insurance scheme for persons with disabilities.</span></p>
