Nagaland celebrates Girl Child Day

<span style="color: #222222;">Joining with the rest of the country, Nagaland celebrated Girl Child Day today under the banner Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. Wishing all girl children a happy day full of celebration and love, Commissioner Secretary of Social Welfare Department, Sarah R Ritse, said for years now various activities on the importance of girl child have been highlighted in the society and today we celebrate the gift of girl child.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Reminding all that our role has just begun, Ritse called upon all to be the ambassador for the girl child and support her by enabling her education and providing her a safe environment and standing up for her rights. Ritse also appealed to all to be a part of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao movement to make the future of every girl child a brighter one.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Marking the day, several activities were carried out in all districts of the state with District Administrations celebrating the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao week from 21st to 24th of this month. </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Activities includes community education, formation of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Girls Club, Balika Manches on POSCO Act, distribution of Sanitary pads to girls, mask distribution to ASHA and Angawadi workers, tree plantation, father-daughter selfie, dadi-granddaughter selfie and others.</span><br />''  <br />
