Naga students decide to suspend blockade of National Highways of Manipur

The Naga Students Federation, NSF, announced temporary suspension of blockade on the National Highways of Manipur from this morning. As per NSF press release issued at Kohima last night the lifting will be conditional on fulfilling of their demands by Manipur Government. NSF demands include withdrawal of all Manipur State Forces from the Naga inhabited areas, lifting of all prohibitory orders in Naga areas and withdrawal of wanted and death awards for both Presidents of All Naga Students Association Manipur and United Naga Council. Our AIR correspondent reports that "It also said that if Manipur government fails to fulfil their demands NSF will resume this blockade. However, NSF has not set any deadline for Manipur government to fulfil their demands. Meanwhile, Motor Transporters and drivers of Manipur have announced that they will not ply on the Imphal Dhimapur National Highway unless what they call illegal taxes on vehicles and inhuman treatment of drivers by Extortionists is stopped by the government. Probably temporary suspension of blockade may not bring immediate relief to the traumatic Manipur. With Nondu Singh this is BB Sharma from Imphal. "
