National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India, NAFED, has started the sale of onions in New Delhi at a subsidised rate of 35 rupees a kilogram. The sale through mobile vans will be continued till retail prices come down. Currently, retail prices of onion are ruling over 60 rupees per kilogram in the capital. NAFED Chairman Bijender Singh flagged off 15 mobile vans near Azadpur mandi in New Delhi to dispatch onions to the different colonies for sale. AIR correspondent reports, to provide relief to consumers each mobile outlets will sell 500 kg of onions in colonies. From Friday, the number of mobile vans will increase to 100 and also the quantity of sale of onion by each mobile outlet would be raised to 2,000 kg.
