Nadda lays foundation stones of 2 Government Medical Colleges in J&K

Union Minister for Health and Family welfare J P Nadda today laid the foundation stones of two Government Medical Colleges in Kathua and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking on the occasion the Union Minister said that BJP led NDA government has been giving special attention towards the development of health sector in Jammu and Kashmir. <br/><br/>Mr. Nadda said that during the three years tenure in the centre, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government has approved two All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), five medical colleges, two State Cancer Institutes as well as three tertiary institutes of cancer for the Jammu and Kashmir state. <br/><br/>He added that these Medical colleges will be completed with the cost of Rs.189 crore each while the State Cancer institutes will come up with a cost of Rs.120 crore and tertiary cancer institutes at the cost of Rs.45 crore each.<br/><br/>Mr.Nadda said that each medical college will have the provision of about 100 MBBS seats. Mr. Nadda had last year laid the foundation stones of three medical colleges in Anantnag, Baramula and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir.<br/><br/>In her address, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti expressed her gratitude to the union government for its assistance for improving the healthcare facilities in the State. She said that the setting up of new medical colleges will help significantly in addressing the issue of shortage of doctors in the State. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, MoS in PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh said with the BJP-led NDA rule in the centre, a new era of development has been initiated in Jammu and Kashmir. He added that during last three years work on an unprecedented number of developmental projects has been started in the State.
