The National Advisory Council has decided to hold further consultations on the Food Security Bill. At a meeting chaired by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Monday, a presentation highlighting the components of the proposed bill was made by the Convenor, of the Working Group , Harsh Mander. These include proposals to reform the Public Distribution System, further strengthening it and making it more inclusive. Special programmes for destitutes and vulnerable groups and improving Child and Maternal Nutrition also form part of the proposals which were discussed at today's meeting. The Convenor of the Working Group on Communal Violence Bill, Ms. Farah Naqvi apprised the meeting on the status of the re-drafting of the bill.
