NAC to firm up National Food Security Act

The National Advisory Council (NAC), headed by UPA Chairperson, Ms Sonia Gandhi, is meeting in New Delhi on Monday to firm up its stand with regard to the proposed National Food Security Act. The meet will also deliberate on the availability of foodgrains storage and the state of the Public Distribution System. Our correspondent reports NAC is expected to resolve two key questions, the number of people who will get rice and wheat for 3 rupees per kg and fixing the price of foodgrains for people living below the poverty line. NAC in its last meeting was of the view that all vulnerable, needy and poor sections of the society ought to become an integral part of the scheme.
