National Advisory Council (NAC) is now meeting to discuss the recommendations of the Rangarajan panel on draft food security bill. The Committee has suggested excluding above poverty line category from the Legal entitlement of the proposed Act. It also recommended that ten thousand crore rupee subsidy is required to provide foodgrain on subsidised price to 75 per cent of the population besides incresing the production. AIR correspondent reports, the NAC had recommended 35 Kilogram of food grains per family at subsidised prices for 75 percent of the population and 20 kilogram per family for remaining 25 per cent of the above poverty line population. Officials in the NAC, said amendments to the right information act will also come up for discussion besides observations of the tribal affairs ministry about amendments in the forest rights act.
