A meeting of the National Advisory Council (NAC), headed by UPA Chairperson, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi was held in New Delhi today. There is no official word yet on the discussion but issues related to the food security bill were high on the agenda. At its last meeting, a presentation made by the Working Group had suggested initial universalisation of food grain entitlement in one-fourth of the most disadvantaged districts or blocks in the first year where the beneficiaries could receive 35 kilograms of food grains per month at three rupees a kilogram. The working group was asked to prepare a draft bill based on the frame work suggested at the meeting.
