NABARD welcomes budget for its focus on farm sector

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development – NABARD has welcomed the budget for its focus on the farm sector. NABARD chairman HK Bhanwala said apart from interest subvention, the income support for farmers can lead to better productivity as farmers can use the money to buy seeds, fertilizers or even farm implements. <br />''<br />''Mr. Bhanwala said many states have digitised land records and hence it will not be very difficult for the government to identify the beneficiaries. The scheme to provide six thousand rupees to marginal farmers will be funded entirely by the Centre and involve an annual outgo of Rs 75,000 crore. Chairman of State Bank of India, Rajnish Kumar said the interim budget is growth oriented and will strengthen the purchasing power of the growing middle-class.<br />''<br />''Bandhan Bank's managing director Chandra Shekhar Ghosh said it is pro-growth and pro-consumption budget with incentives for farmers, small businesses, the middle-class, the salaried class and senior citizens. Indian Banks Association's chairman Sunil Mehta said the proposal gives lots of relief to distressed farmers and workers of unorganized sectors. The realty industry too has welcomed the interim budget saying it will give the needed fillip to the sector. <br />''<br />''Credai-MCHI's President, Nayan Shah said the proposal brings a lot of relief for the mid income taxpayers and some long awaited cheer to the real estate industry. The benefit of rollover of capital gains up to Rs 2 crore will now be available for investment in two houses while proposal to enhance the TDS deduction threshold for rent to 2,40,000 rupees is likely to boost the demand.<br />''<br />
