NABARD to set up 1 lakh JLG’s for helping farmers

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), in a bid to help the small and medium farmers will set up 1 lakh JLG’s or Joint Liability Groups along the lines of the Self Help Group, SHG model in the country. <br/><br/>Umesh Chandra Sarangi, Chairman of NABARD. He said that thirty thousand JLG’s have already been formed and the target by the next year is 5 lakh more such groups. <br/><br/>One JLG consists of 4 to 7 members will be given loan on mutual guarantee without any collateral security. <br/><br/>Talking to AIR News, he said that NABARD has got a sound financial position and at present it does not badly required any re-capitalisation from the Centre. <br/><br/>The restructuring of NABARD will be done within nine months and the consultancy appointed for studying the restructuring will submit its report soon.
