A National Automotive Board, NAB, is proposed to be set up under the Department of Heavy Industry.

It will be an autonomous society comprising of technical and domain experts to speed up the ongoing and new initiatives of the Government for the growth of the automotive sector.

The Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Mr. Praful Patel, gave this information in the Lok Sabha today.

He said the main functions of the proposed National Automotive Board will be to regulate the functioning of the testing centres as also to facilitate research and development in the automotive sector.
