Nuclear powered attack submarine INS Chakra was today inducted in the Indian Navy. Addressing the induction ceremony at Vishakhapattnam Naval Dockyard the Defence Minister, Mr. A.K.Antony said that with the growing economic interests of India in the Indian ocean, Indian Navy has to have a credible presence.

He however maintained that this is not directed against any other country. He said, the piracy and terrorism being perpetrated in the region could have repercussions across the globe. He stressed that maintaining peace and stability in the region is of utmost importance for economic its growth .

AIR Correspondent reports with this induction India has turned into a nuclear navy joining the elite club of P- 5 countries, the US, the UK, Russia, France and Germany.
