N Srinivasan not involved in match fixing: Mudgal report

The Justice Mukul Mudgal panel's inquiry report has said N. Srinivasan was not involved in match-fixing or illegal betting and did not attempt to scuttle the probe into corruption in the Indian Premier League. The Supreme Court made public portions of the 35-page Mudgal report.

The probe panel told Supreme court, that Raj Kundra was in touch with bookies and was placing bets on matches. The panel also said no material is available to show that Gurunath Meiyappan is involved in match fixing. However, the Committee confirms the betting activities of Chennai Super Kings team owner Gurunath Meiyappan.

The panel further said, Cricket administrator Sundaraman knew a contact of a bookie and had contacted him eight times in one season. The Justice Mukul Mudgal-led committee, which was appointed by the Supreme Court to investigate the fixing and betting scandal in the cricket Indian Premier League had submitted final report in probe against N Srinivasan and others to the apex court on November 3. The top court had asked Srinivasan to step aside as Board of Control for Cricket in India president till investigations into the scandal were completed.
