North Korea says it will cut off a military communication line with South Korea and take other actions in response to what it says are provocations by the South. In a statement, the country's National Defense Commission on Monday said the North Korea will cut off a communication line used by the two countries' militaries along the east coast of the Korean peninsula. It said it will also shut a liaison office at the shared Mount Kumgang resort, which is already closed over a separate dispute. Meanwhile, South Korean analysts dismissed the move as an attempt to extract concessions from the South.
