North Korea has renewed its demand for a complete halt to joint military drills between the United States and South Korea. The North made the appeal today in a commentary published on the website of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea, the liaison body with South Korea. <br/><br/>The commentary says that the US-South Korea exercises and inter-Korean dialogue are incompatible and that the drills should be completely stopped rather than postponed. <br/><br/>The text also accuses the US of trying to come up with all sorts of measures to pour cold water on the agreement that the two Koreas reached earlier this week over the Olympics and other matters.<br/><br/>The US and South Korea have decided not to stage the annual exercises during the upcoming Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said the drills will be conducted after the Games.
