Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday. Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Masjid, Dr. Mufti Mohammad Mukaram announced this in a press release issued in New Delhi on Thursday evening. In Kerela, Id-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety today. Thousands of people have assembled in Mosques and Id-Gahs in the state to offer prayer to all mighty Allah. Id-ul-Fitr is the culmination of a month long fasting. However, Eid ul-Fitr is being celebrated across Gulf and West Asia region today with traditional fervour and gaiety. People across the gulf countries including United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran, and West Asian nations including Egypt, Lebanon are marking the occasion after the end of month long fasting during holy month of Ramada. A Large number of people are visiting friends and family, gathering at parks, while special events have been organised by various organisations on the occasion. The celebration marks the purification achieved by a month of sunrise-to-sunset fasting, which is one of the five pillars of Islam, and is marked by several days of festivities. Three-day public holidays have declared in most of the countries in Gulf on the occasion.
