The North East MPs’ Forum has decided to recommend nomination of legendary singer and the Dada Saheb Phalke Awardee Dr Bhupen Hazarika for the highest civilian honour Bharat Ratna Award. According to the general secretary of the Forum, Mr Biren Baishya, the decision to this affect was taken at the meeting of the Forum held on Friday at Gangtok. He said that a delegation of the Forum is going to call on the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh during the ensuing Budget Session of the Parliament to formally present the memorandum.
