N-Cooperation on table in Indo-Japan Talks

Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada arrived in New Delhi today on a two-day visit. He will hold talks with his Indian Counter part S M Krishna on a wide-range of issues and head the Japanese side in the fourth strategic dialogue between New Delhi and Tokyo. S M Krishna and Katsuya Okada will review the status of the relationship between the two countries. The two countries held nuclear negotiations in June this year. A spokesman of ministry of external affairs said that New Delhi was aware of the sensitivities reflected in some viewpoints in Japan on civil nuclear cooperation and it was up to that Government to take care of such issues. Before his departure, Okada told a press conference that he would discuss with the Indian leadership issues like bilateral civilian nuclear cooperation pact and a free trade agreement, negotiations. Besides civil nuclear cooperation, the two sides will also discuss economic ties, situation in Pakistan and Afghanistan, reforms in the U N and expansion of Security Council. Ahead of his talks with Krishna, he will call on the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to exchange ideas on the issues of mutual interest. AIR correspondent reports that Okada's visit is aimed at firming up the agenda for Prime Minister Manmohan trip to Tokyo later this year. Before his departure back home he will also hold discussions with the Envorinmnet Minister Jairam Ramesh.
