Myanmar's parliament today approved 34 government ministries with 30 ministers to form the union government. The proposal was submitted to the union parliament by president- elect U Thein Sein yesterday following the presidential election on February 4. The state radio and television today said the 30 ministers proposed by the president-elect, were also approved by the union parliament. The media said specific naming of the ministers to related ministries is expected to follow on Friday when the current session resumes. In Myanmar's presidential election on February 4, Prime Minister U Thein Sein won the presidency, while U Tin Aung Myint Oo and Dr. Sai Mauk Kham were elected as vice presidents. All of the three represent the Union Solidarity and Development Party. The terms of office of the president and the vice presidents are five years, according to the constitution.
