Myanmar security forces have intensified operations against Rohingya insurgents. This follows three days of clashes with militants in the worst violence involving Myanmar's Muslim minority in five years. The fighting triggered by coordinated attacks on Friday by insurgents, has killed 104 people, including 12 security personnel and several civilians. <br/><br/>It has also led to the flight of a large numbers of Muslim Rohingya and Buddhist civilians from the northern part of Rakhine state. Around 1.1 million Rohingyas live in Myanmar's Rakhine state, but are denied citizenship and face severe travel restrictions. Many Buddhists across Myanmar regard them as illegal immigrants from neighboring Bangladesh. <br/><br/>Meanwhile,Bangladesh border guards also pushed back thousands of Rohingya Muslims stranded in no man's land near the village of Gumdhum. A Bangladesh foreign ministry official told reporters that Bangladesh was willing to work with Myanmar to crack down on the insurgents.
