Myanmar: Gunfire continues between Myanmar military and Arakan insurgent group in Varang

Gunfire have not stopped since last night between Myanmar military and the Arakan insurgent group in Varang in Myanmar, bordering southern part of Lawngtlai District, Mizoram.<br/><br/>Meanwhile there are no reports of fresh influx of refugees from Myanmar apart from those who have fled their villages last month. The number of refugees as recorded is around 1200 and they are being sheltered in schools and community halls in three villages of Lawngtlai District, Mizoram.<br/><br/>State Officials and NGO's have been handing out food and clothes for the refugees. The state Home Minister R Lalzirliana stated earlier that, the govt will do everything they can to ensure safety for the refugees.<br/><br/>Lawngtlai PTC reports that, the main target of the Myanmar Army is the forest in Varang village of Myanmar, and villagers reports of air raids and bombs.
