MVA fields Shivsena leader Rajan Salvi for Speaker's post of Maharashtra State Assembly against BJP's Rahul Narvekar

The post has been lying vacant since February last year, after the resignation of Congress leader Nana Patole, who is now the MPCC Chief.<br />''<br />''Shivsena nominee Rajan Salvi is the party MLA from Rajapur in Ratnagiri district while BJP nominee, Rahul Narvekar is an MLA from Colaba Assembly Constituency in South Mumbai.<br />''<br />''He joined the BJP before the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly Elections and defeated Congress candidate Ashok Jagtap. He had been previously associated with the Shivsena and NCP.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today said that there is no self-interest in any of the fifty MLAs who rebelled against the Shivsena leadership.<br />''<br />''He clarified that the MLAs did not receive any notices from the central agencies which compelled them to rebel against Shivsena. Mr. Shinde said, the MLAs felt that injustice was done to them and it was simmering for a long time. He also said that the stand taken by the rebel MLAs was not for the greed to get the CM's post.<br />''<br />''Refuting the allegations that the new government is not scrapping decision of shifting Metro Carshed to Aarey Colony from Kanjur Marg with a vengeful motive, but taking into account the larger interest of the public. Mr Shinde said that he still respects Shivsena leader Uddhav Thackeray and was not happy when he resigned from the Chief Minister's post.<br />''<br />''Deepak Kesarkar, Spokesperson of the Shinde faction said that expulsion of Eknath Shinde from Shivsena is objectionable and they are exploring legal recourse.</span><br />
