Muzaffarnagar violence: Situation slowly returning to normal; Curfew relaxation period passes off peacefully

The situation in violence hit areas of Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat and Shamli districts is slowly limping back to normal. Curfew relaxation period in three police station areas of Muzaffarnagar district passed off peacefully.

The curfew was relaxed till 6 p.m. and no untoward incident has been reported. The army and para-military forces continued their intensive patrolling and combing operation in the violence-hit areas of the district.

Addressing media persons in Lucknow today, state home secretary Kamal Saxena said that 366 people have so far been arrested in the troubled districts including Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Shamli, Hapur and Meerut. Many of the affected people have been shifted to safer places.
