Muthoot case: HC seeks copy of charge sheet from Kerala police

The Kerala High Court today directed the state police to produce before it a copy of the charge sheet in the Paul Muthoot George murder case by Monday. A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice S R Bannurmath and Justice A K Basheer, issued the direction on a petition filed by M G George Muthoot expressing dissatisfaction with the police investigation in the case relating to his son, Paul's murder and seeking to handover the case to CBI. The case has been posted to Monday. Meanwhile, the bench dismissed another PIL filed by one Raju Puzhangara of Thrissur seeking the same relief. Criticising Puzhangara, the bench said the PIL was nothing but 'publicity interest litigation' and imposed a cost of 50,000 rupees. The bench held that Puzhangara did not produce any material to substantiate his case, but had raised sweeping allegations against police.<br/>Paul, scion of the Kerala-based Muthoot group which is into financing and hospitality sector, was murdered in August.
