Arrivals of Mustard and Safflower seed have picked up in major mandies in several states. These include Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra and Karnataka. The procurement is being done by National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation- NAFED directly from farmers from the mandis at the best prevailing rates. NAFED is the Central agency for procurement of oilseeds at Minimum Support Price MSP. The rates of notified Rabi oilseeds — Mustard seed and Safflower seed –are ruling much above their MSPs of 1850 rupees per quintal for Mustard seed and 1800 rupees per quintal for Safflower seed.
