Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar has said the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2017 will be introduced in Parliament tomorrow. <br/><br/>Talking to reporters outside Parliament today, he said the bill criminalizes instant triple Talaq (Talaq-e-biddat) and imposes a prison term of up to three years on husbands, who violate the law. It also makes a provision for alimony for women on whom triple talaq has been pronounced and grants the women the custody of their children. <br/><br/>Under the draft law, instant triple talaq in any form – spoken, in writing or by electronic means such as email, SMS and WhatsApp, would be illegal and void.
