Distancing itself from the fatwa against Muslims singing Vande Mataram, a section of the Muslim intelligentsia said there is a need to educate the community about the actual meaning of the lone objectionable word Vande in order to remove doubts over its rendition. Vice-President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and eminent scholar Maulana Kalbe Sadiq called for a debate among Hindi litt’rateurs to define the word Vande used in the song which forms the basis on which it has been termed as being against their religion.<br/><br/>Mr. Sadiq said that he was ready to accept the contention of Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khursheed that the National Song had been approved by Maulana Azad on whose suggestions some words are removed.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh former RSS chief KS Sudarshan has met Shia cleric Hamidul Hasan in Lucknow at the residence of later. It was arranged by the Muslim Rashtriya Manch.<br/><br/>Addressing a joint press conference later, they stressed the need for different communities to come together on one platform. On the recent Vande Mataram controversy Shia cleric Hamidul Hasan said that Islam teaches us peace, respect for the country and all religions. Though we did not pay obeisance to anyone except Allah, we should try to understand and respect Vande Mataram. Mr. Sudarshan said that Vande Mataram meant "Maa Tujhe Salaam" and there was nothing objectionable in reciting it by anyone. He said that all the Muslim ulemas should assemble and discuss the issue of reciting Vande Mataram. Mr. Sudarshan and Maulana Hasan said that the time had come to remove misgivings among various communities, as certain issues had been blown out of proportion.<br/><br/>The organisers have said that this meeting was an attempt to resolve various issues between Hindus and Muslims however; no agenda for a course of action was chalked out at the meeting.
