Mushtaq Ali T20: Gujarat beat Saurashtra by 8 wickets

In the on-going Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 League, Gujarat defeated Saurashtra by 8 wickets in the West Zone opener at the SCA Stadium in Rajkot today. In the Central Zone match in Raipur, Rajasthan defeated Ranji Trophy champions Vidarbha by six wickets. Put in to bat, Saurashtra were bundled out for a meagre 133 with Gujarat bowler J K Parmar picking up a 4-wicket haul. For Saurashtra, Vishvarajsinh Jadeja top scored with 48 in 32 balls lacing three boundaries and a six. Chasing 134, Gujarat opener Priyank Panchal smashed 76 in 54 balls, striking 10 fours and a lone six. Opting to bat after the coin landed in their favour, Vidarbha scored 131 for eight in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Rajasthan earned the victory with two overs to spare. Openers Aditya Garhwal and Ankit Lamba, 26 put on 42 runs in just over five overs. Garhwal struck an unbeaten 51.This was Vidarbha's first defeat in the Central Zone leg of the tournament. In the day's other central zone match, Uttar Pradesh beat Railways by seven wickets. Sent into bat, Railways scored 132 for eight, and UP chased down the target of 133 with 12 balls remaining.
