Musharraf arrested at his farmhouse near Islamabad

Former Pakisrtan President Pervez Musharraf was arrested by police at his farmhouse near Islamabad today, Pakistan's Geo TV reported. He was later presented before the judicial magistrate.

A court had ordered the former leader's arrest on Thursday over his attempt to impose house arrest on judges in March 2007. However, after the ruling police had made no attempt to arrest him as he left the court.

Last month he returned from years of self-imposed exile hoping to lead his All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) party into the general election next month.

But his candidacy was rejected from all the four constituencies he had applied to contest.
