A museum for promoting and preserving the Kalka-Shimla Rail link will soon be set up in Switzerland. The museum is being established after Indian Railways signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Swiss Mountain Railways in June last year for cooperation in the field of protection, conservation and management of heritage rail assets. According to railway officials, several aspects of the Kalka-Shimla rail link including photographs and video recording of the running train through tunnels on the hilly track, will be exhibited at the museum. The museum is expected to be operational by next year. Kalka-Shimla Railway was inscribed as World Heritage Site in 2008 by the UNESCO.
