Murthy selected for Dada Saheb Phalke Award

Legendary Cinematographer V K Murthy has been selected for the Dada Saheb Phalke Award for the year 2008, the highest national award for contribution to the art of films . <br/><br/>According to an official release, the award carrying a cash prize of 10 lakh rupees will be presented by President Pratibha Devisingh Patil.<br/><br/>Murthy part of the legendary film director and actor Guru Dutt's team, is credited with providing one of the most memorable black and white images to Indian cinema. <br/><br/>Mr Murthy started his career in cinema as a violinist and classics like ‘Kagaz Ke Phool’ and ‘Sahib, Bibi aur Ghulam’ won him Filmfare Awards. His other well known works of cinema include ‘Baazi’, ‘Jaal’, ‘Chaudavin ka Chand’, ‘Pyasa’, ‘Ziddi’ and others.<br/>
