The Minister of state for railways K.H.Muniyappa has said that disputes related to land acquisition is creating hurdles in the development of the Railways in Kerala. He said this while commissioning a track doubling project at Haripad in Alappuzha. The minister said construction of rail over bridges with shared cost with states will be introduced in Kerala also. Emphasising on rail safety the minister said the Indian railways is planning to spend 400 crore rupees for making rail over bridges. Muniyappa added that all the unmanned level crossings in Kerala will be manned in the near future. Attending the function, the minister of state for power K C Venugopal said that rules need to be amended to speed up land acquisition. KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala and other eminent dignitaries attended the function.
