Mumbai violence: Normalcy returns

Normalcy has returned to Mumbai, after a protest against violence in Assam and neighbouring country Mynmar turned violent yesterday killing 2 persons and injuring 55. Services of all modes of public transport have been restored. While speaking to media persons, commissioner of Mumbai Police Arup Patnaik said that the situation was brought under control within an hour .

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has ordered a probe by the Crime Branch into the violence to ascertain whether it was a part of a conspiracy. He also said that the government has taken a serious note of the incident and security has been tightened in the state. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Rapid Action Force (RAF) and State Reserve Police (SRP) personnel have been also been put on high alert. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Press Club has demanded a thorough inquiry into the violence in which the media persons were also targeted.
